Lassi and Jesse close to a podium finish.
The Watkins Glen 6 Hour is a six-hour endurance race held annually at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York. This event was the digital version of it in iRacing. The race included three classes GTP, LMP2 and GT. All of the classes had the top of the crop sim drivers and the biggest teams from multiple Williams and Redline entries to ours. Sontek Racing compteted in the LMP2-class with Lassi Juurinen and Jesse Hiiliaho.
The qualification was dominated by Coanda and Williams esports academy taking the first 6 in the grid. Sontek Racing opened with Lassi Juurinen who managed to put our car on starting position 7 out of 17.
The 6 hour race was quite eventful as the weather changed from sunny to pouring rain more than once. The rain in iRacing has been a long awaited feature, which was just recently introduced and it has been getting loads of positive feedback from the drivers.
Both Lassi and Jesse performed solidly throughout the race and managed to finish at p5. Great job guys!
Next iRacing event for the team will most likely be SPA 24h in July.
