Historic Race season's triumphant closing in Kemora 6.-8.9.2024
The team arrived in Kemora again well in advance on Wednesday as the evening was already darkening. On Thursday, it was time to set up the lear and Jenni still had time to do a few practice laps on the track.
As usual, Sontek Racing was present with three cars:
Petri Kiikka, Ford Mustang Boss 302
Jani Turunen, Ford Falcon
Jenni Silventoinen, Formula Ford
Friday was theofficial day of practice and testing, This went great, but technical challenges began to arise towards the end. Jani’s Falcon heat began to turn red and Jenni's Formula damaged a wishbone mount.
Petri's practice sessions went well and lap times improved lap by lap. The excitement was high, as both Jani and Jennikin were leading their respective series before the final race. Jani’s Falcon's heat problems were tackled and the car was ready for the race. However, Jenni's Formula was unroadworthy because the necessary spare part was not available anywhere. However, the fellow competitors came to the rescue, and with their tips we found a skilled welder who practiced his magic and repaired the damaged part as good as new. All three cars for the final race of the season were ready.
Saturday, qualifying and Race 1
Jani took the pole position in his own class, as well as Petri and Jenni.
So we started the first race from the best possible places in the grid. Jani and Petri drove themselves to class victories magnificently. For a long time, Jenni held the first position, but spun annoyingly, but eventually drove all the way to third.
Sunday Race 2
The second race was the last Historic Race start this season. Jani once again started at the top of his class and held the top spot magnificently, driving to victory and thus to victory in the entire series. In his first season, Jani won everything that could be won. With his great driving, Petri secured himself a class victory, third place in the start and redeemed his place at the top of the series. Jenni pushed herself to second place in the class and the season's points were also enough to win the entire series! 
A great season with great cars and an even more amazing team. Great races behind us and hopefully next season will be at least as great.
The team's races were by no means here yet, as we will continue the Endurance Cup at Alastaro and Botniaring.
